Coding for Reproducible Research#

Coding for Reproducible Research (CfRR) is recruiting Postgraduate Teaching Assistants (PTAs) to support our training programme during the 2026–27 academic year.

We are looking for enthusiastic University of Exeter PhD students with experience in R and/or Python who are keen to help researchers develop their coding and data analysis skills. You will need relevant technical expertise, but no previous teaching experience is required. We will provide onboarding, training and ongoing support to help you develop your teaching skills and build confidence in the role.

R Workshop Lead#

  • R Workshop Lead: Lead and support delivery of R training workshops such as: Introduction to R, Working with data in R, Regression Analysis with R.

  • Python Workshop Lead: Lead and support delivery of Python training workshops such as: Introduction to Python, Python for Data Analysis

  • R Workshop Support: Support delivery of R training workshops such as: Introduction to R, Working with Data in R, Regression Analysis with R.

  • R/Python Workshop Support: Lead and support delivery of R or Python training workshops such as: Introduction to R, Working with Data in R, Regression Analysis with R, Introduction to Python, Python for Data Analysis

Eligibility#

Applicants must:

  • be a PhD student registered at the University of Exeter;

  • have sufficient knowledge and experience in R and/or Python to support or lead the relevant workshops; and

  • be enthusiastic about helping others develop their coding and data analysis skills.

Training and development#

No previous teaching experience is required. We are committed to supporting your development through:

  • comprehensive onboarding and training;

  • access to teaching resources and workshop materials;

  • opportunities to gain valuable teaching and facilitation experience; and

  • ongoing support from the Coding for Reproducible Research team.

We are particularly keen to broaden our community of trainers and increase the number of researchers able to support and deliver our programme.
